PHILOSOPHY
Creating places that blend into everyday life—and are cherished over time.
SPROUTZ Studio is an architecture and design practice creating Sustainable Places designed to be inherited into the next century.
We see a place as the integration of space and the life that unfolds within it—human and natural activity, daily routines, and the relationships that form over time. Like a vessel and the living plants it holds, space gains vitality only through the life it supports.
From the earliest stages, we approach design with space and life as one. We work closely with our clients to articulate the values they seek, shaping them into a vision grounded in the unique context of each site—so that each project begins with shared purpose and genuine resonance.
Through a holistic design process that connects strategy, community, architecture, and furniture, we strive to realize places that remain meaningful, adaptable, and deeply loved over time.
PLACE SUSTAINABILITY
Designed to Be Inherited
We believe a place becomes truly sustainable when it remains loved—and worth maintaining—over time. Such places can endure many kinds of crises, because people choose to care for them, protect them, and adapt them as circumstances change.
To realize Place Sustainability, we consider many interwoven elements: a project’s vision, spatial articulation, the rhythms of human and natural activity, and the local community that surrounds it.
Sustainability is not a checklist of green materials—it’s a project-specific way of thinking. For each project, we identify what matters most and translate it into design decisions.
For example, in a private residence, physical performance is only the starting point. By creating spaces where people feel safe to be themselves—supported by comfort, dignity, and ease—we increase the likelihood that the home will be cherished, cared for, and sustained for generations.

ARCHITECT
CEO / Architect
Yusuke Asaco
First-class Architect (Japan) / Place Producer
Yusuke studied Nordic approaches to sustainable design and has continued to develop that knowledge through both research and practice since returning to Japan. After gaining professional experience at Yamashita Sekkei—known for delivering many public architecture projects—and at KAMIYA ARCHITECTS, a studio that inherits and evolves Nordic design thinking, he became independent in 2023 and began his own practice grounded in his personal philosophy.
He is also engaged in design activities that explore the “life around a place”—the narratives, customs, and relationships that shape it. In 2019, he launched the web magazine BLOOOM!, focusing on places loved by people across Japan through ongoing interviews and field research. He also works on initiatives such as self-build workshops, designing the relationship between community and architecture through hands-on practice.
Through these independent activities, he continues to discover what enables architecture to be loved for a long time, pursuing stronger design integration between life and space.
